Is anyone going to mention the fact that you can't edit Nikon raw files in lightroom. I mean thats a pretty huge oversight. We still don't have support for nef files in either version of lightroom.

But does it shoot 180 frames per second in raw 😂

I use PS CS6, original purchase use forever - I refuse to rent software - I also use LR5.7 and CaptureOne 22 - Non issue, still run my studio just fine. I dont need the newest coolest slider that does what I already know how to do.

In case anyone needs something to waste time with, the minimum theoretical diameter of a lens can be calculated by the focal length and f-stop and sensor size. . . .

Has been a Lumix M4/3 user for over 7 years with heavy investment on the lenses I will have to take a huge hit if I am making a jump to any full frame camera. GH7 may be my "saving grace".

Oh Pentax! What a sad, pathetic effort. It's a toy, not a serious camera. Something like this will not spark a film revival. New film shooters would be better off checking Ebay for an old Pentax Spotmatic. Even the most basic model goes to 1/500th of a second. But grab them fast. I've seen the Pentax K1000 going for more used than I paid for mine new back in 1982.

I think a lot of the people who say 24 megapixels is fine are missing the point that in a lot of use cases especially for wildlife photography where you are distance limited, more megapixels are absolutely required to be able to crop in. If you're a pro at a sporting event on the sidelines with a giant lens, sure it's not as important, but if you're out shooting wildlife and our distance limited in lens limited every megapixel matters and the more the better. And frankly for these use cases, printing is almost never the concern. A large chunk of them are viewed almost exclusively digitally, but still need to be heavily cropped and retain high levels of detail.

I thought this would be something similar to a Yashica GSN. But NO. No focus ability? Carry a tape measure to check distance? OK, so you want to make a range finder film camera. It needs to have a focusing mechanism coupled to the lens and a way to see this through the viewfinder. I have an Argus C3 made in 1945 that does that. It needs a way to manually control both aperture and shutter speed. It needs a light meter and a way to show the user the aperture and shutter speed are in balance. Oh, and throw in a 24mp sensor so you can skip the whole develop the film, scan the film to a digital file so you can print on an inkjet thing.

Why does this have the small battery?! Fujifilm is intent on hobbling their cameras in one way or another. I’d pick the X-S20 for the battery life alone, even though it has the older sensor.

I own a few Voigtlander lenses, 23mm F1.2, 50mm APO F2, 27mm F2, 35mm f1.5...I think this review is missing the point, Nokton are for Low Light shooting mostly, ultron, color-skopar or lenses with F2 or higher are daylight lenses...so shoot those lenses in low-light.

I hope that will make it E-mount.

I wish Pentax/Ricoh much success but two of its features are deal breakers for me. 1) Half frame, and 2) Zone focusing.

Shame on you. This is not acceptable. One must be blind to look at film photos nowadays. You want a film look, just apply countless filters to digital processing of RAW data. “ film community” I have not enough words of disapproval for your consumerist hedonistic approach to global resources. You want all this chemical dirt back? What for? For your wasteful pleasure of getting on good frame per film? Which you will the scan any way to treat in your PC? “Film community” you must be out of your minds .

Can I use this and bring the video into Resolve?

This lens is not impressive at all. This is exactly 400mm f4.5 full frame equivalent. Nikon already has that lens which is even much smaller and cheaper!

You actually said it. Cost for quality is disproportional, as my eyes can't perceive any huge or even minimal differences to the picture quality at all. Pound for pound, Dollar for Dollar , the iPhone 15 Pro Max (that I have) is the winner. PLUS, I can order a pizza when I'm done. Try doing that with a Nikon.

Your reviews are mostly great...I do think most folks are not going to change entire systems just because of some improvements on a particular.brand...cheers

Hi Guys, First, I want to say that enjoy listening and seeing you every week. One of your sponsors, OM, when it was known as Olympus offered in the 1990s a marvelous little point and shoot film camera that cost around $80 US. It had a good 35 mm 1/2.8 lens, autofocu and a flash. It set set the ISO using the code on the film cassette. I loaded it with 3200 ISO B/W film which it would overexpose by 1 stop to make sure that there was a useable exposure when the film was processed at a 1 hour lab. I used it to create several bodies of work, a couple of which were exhibited.

Chris, Adobe profiles for 40mm f/1.2 Nokton do a decent job with the vignetting, particularly at wider apertures. I have the M-mount and using it on a Lumix S5 IIx so no contacts to transfer information thus I have to apply the profiles in LR. Not sure about the versions you're using but give it a try if they aren't applied automatically. I only have the 40mm f/1.2 so not sure if Adobe has a 50 f/1 profile

Guys, I want to buy an om system camera, but I want the PDAF and IBIS in a small body - Be it an EPL, EM5, Pen etc. Please ask them to rustle us up something. I don't want a heavy camera, or CDAF this decade. 🙏 I'm circling the EM5III currently, but holding out for one of those little selfie flip up screen handbag cams like the EP from this decade.

Hi PetaPixel, is it possible to record NRAW directly to an SSD using usb-c port on this camera?

It bothers me that this camera has a fixed super wide angle lens, because that is not medium format's strong point. High resolution, 150 MP, ok, fine. Crop in as needed, waste all those photosites. But a normal lens on 6x6cm film is 110mm. A 35mm equivalent FOV is 77mm. Medium format and large format allows you to get the compression of a telephoto with the field of view of a wide angle or normal lens. The format really shines in this focal length range and it's a shame that this camera doesn't allow you to exploit that.

in mixed we used 200 ,never 400 that was for evening or inside shots and 100 where rarely usable.but the worst of all the sacrilege the horror the utter disregard of all the gods of photography is that absolutely disease of photography coming from those morons not being able to put their phone in a correct position ,namely the higher than width pictures . that alone makes me curse the photo function of smartphones to death and fuels my hopes of a timemachine to eradicate whoever got that idea.

One of the most interesting experiments I’ve seen in a long time

The Pentax might appeal to people who don’t want to buy second-hand (that’s lots of people). And people don’t care about amazing quality (it is a similar audience to the instax). Would I buy this? Probably not because developing film is a hassle.

The Tamron 28-200 f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD. The fact that there is no RF version is a crimimal indictment on Canon's greed.

You got good results because you filled in the holes this camera has with your extensive photographic knowledge newbies don't have that if someone learns to use this camera they learn how to use a pentax 17 not how to use a film camera manual overrides are always better than program i say buy a nikon fe + 50mm pancake or the other direction olympus xa2 you'll have more from either camera depending how much photography you want to learn
